Tartar is mineralised dental plaque that cannot be removed by brushing at home. It builds up when hygiene slips or the brushing technique is wrong.
Why does tartar need removing regularly?
A build-up of tartar inflames the tissues around the tooth - gingivitis, inflammation of the gum - and in later stages periodontitis. We recommend combining scale removal with the check-up every six months; for periodontitis we draw up an individual plan of more frequent visits.
What the AIR-FLOW procedure is
Air-flow is a procedure carried out after scale removal. Once the tartar has been removed with ultrasound, the teeth are polished with a brush and a mildly abrasive paste, and then air-flow follows: a jet of water and soda under pressure removes the remaining deposits and hard particles. It brings out the natural colour of the teeth without harming the enamel at all. The teeth are left smooth, clean and perfectly polished. It is painless, and it also removes the small stains left by coffee, tea and wine. Quickly and easily, you see the natural colour and smoothness of your own teeth.
